Mixed Potpourri is an accurate description for these posts.

Miscellaneous updates; Makeup, Nail polish, and an outfit.

Recently I've switched from using Etude House and Anna Sui compact powders cause I left my Etude House one in Singapore, and the Anna Sui one's just old.

Guerlain Parure Pearly White; compact foundation with Beautifying Nacre and Pearl Lily Complex.
SPF35

I didn't take comparison shots, but here's how it looks on my skin under soft light. The colour of the powder is vastly paler on application as compared to when in the compact so there's a glowy effect. It lasts a lot longer than the Etude House compact foundation and texture-wise the Guerlain one's smoother and goes on easier (definitely more finely milled). Packaging wise this takes the cake; the pale golden exterior, white interior, coupled with a velveteen slip-on pouch is simply luxurious. Only downside is that it smells a little too strongly of middle-aged rich-lady perfume.

OPI Top and Base Coat set.

Fastest drying base coat ever. The solution itself is rather thin, but that only makes it easier to apply and allows it to dry within seconds. No more waiting 19710381083 years to apply colour, and no need to worry about bubbling. The top coat is a little thicker and dries slower, but in comparison to brands like The Face Shop, that makes you wonder if what you just purchased was top coat or polyjuice potion, this is vastly better. When used with 2 layers of OPI colour polish and a layer of shatter, the colour stayed intact on my nails for a week. Quite a feat considering I do a fair amount of housework.

Only today, while packing the organised mess that is my table, i found my lipstick purse (under some notes), and realised that i have 4 Etude House lippies. Four. Why

Moving on to an entirely seperate topic, Barbarion did a short gig outside Union House complete with smoke machines and flamethrowers(?). I expected to see more people headbanging in the front, but obviously students are too knackered to do anything but stare bemusedly.

After 192381039103810 years, finally, another full body photo.  On one of my lazy days too. Nonetheless, here's an outfit rundown.

Jacket: Random store in MyeongDong; about 70 odd SGD. there's actually a fluffy inner lining that's removable and obviously isn't in the picture.

Shirt: Really old one from Zara.

Shorts: wait for it; Target. Ikr, so fashunistar.

Shoes: Random shop in Dongdaemun.

Muscular-like-horse legs: all mine.

끝-end-

Ok so if anyone was wondering where I got these little emote things, I saw them on Justine Doll and thought they were adorable, so i followed a link on her page to BabyDoll.nu, and found them here.  So, all credits to them. Both blogs are also incredibly cute, so if you like all things pink and sparkly, as well as have a penchant for makeup (korean cosmetics, in particular), pop over to have a look.

Weddings; popping the wedding reception cherry.

Sorry for updating so sporadically!
I've been going out a lot more than i expected lately, especially with some relatives coming down from Penang to visit, and spending time with family.

Attended a distant cousin's wedding last saturday. So distant that i'd never even seen the guy before then, so forgive me if i sound rather dispassionate about the wedding, or weddings in general.

Seems like the dim lighting messed around with my blusher (again) i need to learn to take better makeup photos. OTL. Also, a random note, because this can be a bit of an issue with some bloggers, yes i do photoshop my photos marginally, usually i remove the eyebags and dark eye circles as well as narrow my jaw a little. SO HONEST WTF I DESERVE AN AWARD. OTL.

No i don't make my eyes bigger because, HELLO DISTRICT 9 ALIEN SIZED EYES NOT NICE OKAY, ONLY VERY SCARY. And my circle lenses already do a good enough job of SCARING THE WHOLE WORLD WAHAH, er i mean, they're really big, by that i mean HUGE. I've also been told that this pair (Dolly Brown) reflects light really well and gives eyes a bit of a sparkly effect. (though i was told in terms similar to "omfg your eyes are actually sparkling, you look like an anime character, please don't stare at me")

The flower centrepiece of every table. They're pretty and all, but after my grandma nicked them for us and we carted them home, they died within the span of 2 days. Which is why i'll just throw this in randomly and say i don't like flowers because of the negative symbolism in them dying so quickly.*IS WEIRD*

A blurry badly lit photo of the wedding cake, that wasn't actually a cake, sadly. Had to zoom my camera 12 times to get this photo. That's how far the stage was from our table. Though the table was more interesting, with the 817319371983122 course chinese meal. The dishes kept coming, it was like a neverending stream of goodness. If i ever go for a wedding dinner/lunch, IT'LL BE FOR THE FOOD.  In fact, the food was so good, i forgot to take an outfit shot, i did take a photo of my bag though.

I've never really noticed how almost everything in my bag is pink.

Photo taken when it was sitting on my sister's chair ofcourseit'snotoriginal.  The foxtail charm was bought in Korea for about 20,000 KRW. Bought it for the colour, cause you usually find black ones with dyed white tips, but this one's white with a dyed black tip. Matches my bag, that is notoriginal also white and black. Okay, so i get that Gyaru sees brands as valued commodities and all, but a poor student is a poor student. For the curious, the bag was bought in Penang, Malaysia.

Wedding gift thing, i'm told that they're given to all guests. Ate both the chocolates upon getting back home. Chocolates are the one thing you shouldn't give up in any diet. Depriving yourself probably make you crave it a lot more, and assuming you go off the diet, you're likely to binge eat ALL THIS GOOD STUFF YOU'VE MISSED. And boom, all weight lost comes back. Everything in moderation is ~perfect~.

Er, i'm on a seafood diet now though, I SEE FOOD, AND I EAT IT. Okay sorry, bad pun. I am so punny wtfhbbqlol.

Derp face in all its glory. My hair keeps deflating in this weather, IT'S DEPRESSING *SOB*

Okay, i should have a cosmetics haul post up by today or tomorrow, so i'll leave you with this while we're still on the subject of weddings.

Hope the video doesn't get taken down before you guys see it! 8DD

Jelly; Dec 2010 picks

OHAI! Just got back from Seoul on Monday night, at around 1am.
Photos will have to come later cause i've got 675 of them to sift through. I DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW I EVEN MANAGED TO TAKE 675 PHOTOS.

Autumn colours are terribly dreary, hopefully winter brings in some cute fluffy colours. Then again, i was looking at Jelly, not Popteen. Popteen picks should be coming along soon!

Recently i've been drawn into more understated styles. Might be the influence of korean street fashion, which is, judging from what i've seen, ladylike, semi-formal, and subtle. It really depends on what you're looking at though. I did pick up this sweater in ghastly shades of purple and green. Purple and green happen to go quite well together, for some inexplicable reason.

But, i digress, beige, camel, brown, grey, black, khaki and tartan seem to be recurring colour palettes in this issue. As well as fur, in the form of legwarmers, vests, coats, scarves, or bags. Pants range from denim shorts to skinny jeans, boyfriend cuts, and slacks.

Red seems to be one of the more heavily featured vibrant colour in makeup now. Classic colour, goes with the season's muted tones, but tends to be a little tricky when it comes to picking a shade of red. Some are too orange, some are too pink, you might get it on your teeth and that's all kinds of awkward. One of my favourite lip colours is Chanel's Rouge Allure in excessive. Should've gotten it in the airport ugh, i'm such an indecisive shopper.

I'd suggest taking the advice of pairing red lippie with natural eye makeup. Heavy eye makeup and red lips as a set can be rather volatile; it either makes you look like a Harlot, Tranny, or well, to be honest i don't see any good coming out of overly dramatic eyes and red lipstick cause there's gonna be too much drama going on all over that face.

Some recurring shoe trends i've observed would be the laced up ankle boots, lots of suede, and fur. Though it seems like ankle boots are more popular than thigh highs or knee highs this season. Okay no i'm biased cause i just bought a pair of laced ankle boots from Korea. Yes, there'll be a mega haul post sometime soon.

One of my favourite pieces this autumn? The knitted socks. Lovelovelovelove them so much. My horrendous thunder thighs make it impossible for me to wear them cause, hello, muffin top. Also, would someone be so kind as to inform me where i can obtain sock glue? Because my thigh high socks keep slithering downwards. It's ridiculous.
Also, just a little note for the scarf under belt style in the top right hand side of the picture. Try using a scarf with less elasticity, then it's not as likely that you'll stretch it out of shape.

Lastly, one of my favourite coordinates in this issue. It also happens to be unwearable in Singapore. Tragic.

Short snippet on korea:

It was incredibly fun, there was touristy stuff as well as a whole lot of shopping. Cosmetics, mostly. Clothes need to be washed before keeping them away, so i'll get photos of the stuff i bought sometime later, maybe in a week or so. Either way, there'll be a haul post and general tourist photos to look forward to. Hopefully soon. 8DD

I'll see if i remember enough of Dongdaemun to point anyone who needs information in the right direction, in terms of shopping for clothes.

Till then, 안녕~!

Anime Festival Asia! outfit/hair/makeup spam post

This post is dedicated entirely to my incessant need to selca, as well as some AFAX stuff.
AFAX is basically a mega anime bonanza with booths selling merchandise (SO MANY, WTF), cosplay competitions (regional), and guest star appearances. Other features include a Maid cafe (Moe Moe Kyun) and Butler cafe (Atelier Royale), as well as several spaces for art, karaoke, anime dubbing, travel, and japanese culture. I think they've made it an annual event after seeing last year's success, and in comparison (i.e. what i could garner from pictures, since i wasn't there), it seems that this year's was held on a significantly grander scale.

Stumbled over in my trusty wedges at around noon, and yes, that's the minimaos furtail keychain again. I'm so obsessed with that thing it's fluffy, squishy, and i cannot stop touching it.

Autumn colours ahoy! Cause khaki, faded denim, and brown, in the right shades, are an infallible combination.

Here, have a badly taken full body shot.
Cardigan: nicked it off my sister
Top: Uniqlo (i think)
Shorts: Cotton On (For Gyaru on a budget. Also try Bershka, Zara and New look for autumny trends.New Look's cheaper though.)
Furtail: Minimaos
Bag: Longchamp
Shoes: Schu

Pig trotter legs, all my own, the flat hair as well, but no amount of hairspray will make that hair stay up in this humid weather. It just deflates once i step out of the house. OTL

Make-up and hair for the day, can you see it deflating already?  The waves remained, but volume only stuck around for an incredible couple of minutes. Joy and rapture.

Closer look at the eye make-up. After seeing it in some makeup tutorials, i decided to try out the black-eyeliner-in-middle-of-water-line method to see if it'd make my eyes bigger. It's probably cause the line's fading that i can't see much of a difference, but i suppose theoratically it makes sense.

Also, there ought to be a subject "how to glue on false lower lashes" because obviously they were designed for geniuses. Nearly gave myself an aneurysm trying to make them stick and stay.

More gratuitous selca! Sunlight makes everyones skin fair and smooth. CAMWHORE/SELCA IN SUNLIGHT AND STOP BITCHIN ABOUT YOUR COMPLEXIONS. HOHOHO.

ANYWAY, the venue was crowded like nobody's business, and trying to squeeze past the crazed mobs could only be equivalent to attempting to force an egg back up the hen's vent.

Not to mention, due to severe indecision and the sheer number of nendroids (vocaloid Miku, specifically), i not only could not decide on which to buy, but ended up leaving empty handed. GOOD JOB SELF.

It was a toss up between K-On's Azusa, and Tsumugi, if anyone wanted to know. *sob*

There were various anime printed cushions on sale at SGD19 each, and i was under the impression that the stall was selling body cushions, so i intended to head over, purchase a Sebastian (Kuroshitsuji) and SLEEP WITH HIM EVERY NIGHT. HURR. But they were just generic cushions, that were kinda overpriced to boot.

Apparently, all attempts to keep up appearances on this blog have been channeled into the digital removal of eyebags. Subtlety has been thrown into the wind (more like a hurricane).

The Domo-kun in the above picture is totally related. Domo plushies were for sale at the same store, as well as a pile of miscellaneous Domo merchandise. I honestly thing they've capitalized a little too much on it, cause people seem to be losing interest; judging from the piles of Domo things that were sitting around, and the sellers trying to hawk them out at discounted prices.

We basically spent a lot of time walking arond looking for stuff to buy, and bitching at seriously half-assed cosplay. Oh, also complaining about bad singers at the karaoke booth, and looking for Kaname.

I suppose the highlight of this event, for myself at least, would be the Butler cafe. But i'll have to dedicate an entire blogpost to that.

Till next time then~!

Fly-catcher lashes. (Mode make and coord)

Decided to venture out of familiar ground today and try some dramatic makeup.
Mode gyaru make is defined usually by its heavy emphasis on the eyes and strong eyebrows.

I found a tutorial for Ena Matsumoto's make in Popteen Oct 10' and tried it out.

Didn't have some makeup, like black eyeshadow and the exact shade of lipstick, so i made do with shades of brown for the eyeshadow.

Here's a scan of the tutorial (click for larger size):

And these were my materials:

Lower lashes (forgot which brand)

Etude House Foundation

Ardell Invisiband lashes. These are crazy long.

Etude house eyebrow kit

Maybelline Impact Express smooth felt liner. It isn't that great, fades pretty fast and all.

Etude House Lip Plumper

Clinique Colour Surge Eyeshadow Palette

Points to note:

1. The eyeliner has to be drawn dramatically, i probably should've gone a little further with mine, but yeah, extend it way past the ends of your eyes and flick the end upwards. This would be easier to do if you use a thin tipped eyeliner applicator.
2. Crazy fly-catcher-long false lashes for the upper lashline, short thicker ones for the lower lashlines.
3. Highlight below the arch. (er. as for strong eyebrows, it seems that my light's washed out my eyebrows almost completely. No matter, clearer pictures of full make below)

4. apply blusher along sides of cheekbones, countours and slims the face, especially since some mode hairstyles require all hair to be pulled back.

5. Use a nude or pale lipstick, then put gloss over. If you don't have nude lipstick, get rid of the dead skin on your lips first by leaving some vaseline on for about 2-3 minutes, then buff them lightly with a towel or toothbrush. When you find that all the dead skin/dryness is gone, apply vaseline/lipbalm/conditioner and pat some foundation onto your lips until you get the desired colour. Lightly gloss over with tinted gloss/clear gloss. This method is a little tricky though, and it doesn't last very long.

I think those are the main points to look out for, if i missed anything, just leave a comment to let me know or something~! 8DD

Now for coordinates and hair. I referred to Mitsu's tutorial for the underscarf hair. Only did the underscarf one cause my hair was a terrible mess this afternoon. OTL

Full make; looks weird without circle lenses though, will try it again when my lenses arrive and see how it goes then. Brows more visible here though. I need to learn how to take better photos of make. OTL.

See why i call these my fly-catcher lashes? I felt like a camel.

Went with a monotone mode look with whatever i could find in my wardrobe. Harem pants and textured dolman sleeve top from Far East Plaza. Shoes from Schu in Suntec City (singapore).

Harem pants are good for those who have thick legs cause they taper and make the legs seem slimmer.

Best pair of heels ever. They're wedges so it's easier to walk in them as compared to stilettos, or normal heels, and the zipper in the middle strap gives the illusion of longer legs.

Skinny leg wedges + Harem pants = best combination ever. Shit. now the world knows that i have fat legs.

Though i'm pretty sure the coordinate itself could do with a lot of sprucing up; Brighter coloured scarf, more accessories and such. OTL. It seemed fine just now but now that i look at it again it looks a little sparse.

This is Ena Matsumoto's ameblo. She's super classy, wtf, i can't even pick a favourite coordinate cause they're all so well put together. But this comes up somewhere on top i guess:

Those boots and the coat ♥

Kay, going off now!
