MSS #6

Thought I'd do one MSS this weekend. I know it's monday(Australian time), but i made this post yesterday and forgot to post it. /fail/

1. Tokyo Girls' Style 東京女子流; おんなじキモチ
This song is adorable. I don't deny that I'm a fan of bubblegum pop and cutesey j-pop songs appeal to me very much. This group debuted fairly recently through Avex Trax early last year. This is their first new girl group after SweetS i think? They look lot younger than the girls in SweetS though.

2. Kagrra 神樂; うたかた

A friend introduced me to Kagrra a couple of years back and i've liked their music ever since. They incorporated traditional elements like the drum beats and instruments as well as heian style lyrics. They've disbanded, unfortunately, but the music they made was and is beautiful, and the lyrics were well written. I only wish they'd lasted longer.

3. Yui Aragaki 新垣結衣; ハナミズキ
One of the main reasons i like Yui Aragaki's music is her voice. It's got an airy quality to it that makes listening to her songs very relaxing.

4.Kana Nishino; 会えなくても feat. 西野カナ / WISE
They wouldn't let me embed the video :/ Okay so i only recently started listening to Kana Nishino's music, but most of it is pretty hit or miss for me. I only like a few tracks from each album and don't feel much for the rest of it. But this song is quite pretty.

5. Epik High; Love Love Love
It seems that i've made a belated discovery of Epik High, but i suppose i only started appreciating rap and hip hop a bit more after BigBang, so this lateness is to be expected. I've only heard a few of their songs but i find that i like their collaborations with other singers better.

And that's all for MSS#6. I'm not too sure if any of you guys are interested in these posts, or what you think of them; for example, should MSS be once a fortnight, monthly, weekly, or not exist at all cause my taste in music is a flaming pile of poo. So pop your opinions in the comments box below~

MSS #5

1.Chajatta;Found you - JYJ

From the SunKyungKwan Scandal OST. THIS SONG IS MY JAM OK, DOESN'T EVEN MATTER THAT I HATED JYJ'S AYYYY GIRL(HOW MANY 'Y'S WERE THERE ANYWAY). Perfect song for a perfect drama. While the storyline is reminiscent of Liang Shan Bo and Zhu Ying Tai 梁山伯与祝英台, it was executed in a way that made it stand out from the usual korean period dramas. Think of it as Hong Gil Dong improved 200%.

2. VVIP - Seungri, Big Bang

Big Bang's maknae (youngest member ) Seungri is back with unimaginable amounts of douchery. Strangely the song is addictive and extremely catchy. T.O.P still remains my main bias in Big Bang though.

On a related note BIGBANG'S COMEBACK IS THIS THURSDAY I CANNOT WAIT.

3. Superstar - Koda Kumi

One of my favourite Kuu-chan songs. Definitely not her usual style, but i love her agejo coordinate at the end.

4. Lick Me - Koda Kumi

I'm going through a slight Kuu-chan revival at the moment, and almost everything about this MV is adorable, especially the outfits. It just seems like an extreme crossbreed of the agejo style and the recent retro revival.

5. Infinity - Girl Next Door

The opening theme to Atashinchi no Danshi, a jdrama i watched in 2009 starring Horikita Maki, Kaname Jun, Okada Yoshinori,Mukai Osamu, Seto Koji,Yamamoto Yusuke and Okayama Tomoki. Super cute, if not extremely unrealistic. But that's the charm of Dramas i guess.

That's all for MSS #5.

I'll be fluttering back to Melbourne on the 25th, so i guess this mean less time lounging around the house in a sleeveless top with shorts and more outfit snapshots.

MSS #3

MSS IS BACK!! k but it'll be Music Selection Sunday in this case cause it's Sunday night in my part of the world right now.

1. Carry On My Wayward Son - Kansas.
K SO, I'M A BIG FAN OF SUPERNATURAL. NUFF' SAID. Otherwise, i don't really like any other Kansas songs. More of an AC/DC or Metallica person.

2. Letter To You - Key & IU.
Originally by Mc Mong and Lyn, but i prefer their version. It sounds a lot more youthful, and IU has the voice of an angel.

3. We Belong Together - BigBang feat. Park Bom.
One of their earlier songs. Idek why but Bom almost always sounds good when singing with Big Bang.

4. High High - GTop (G. Dragon and T.O.P from Big Bang).
It's more addictive than Like A G6. In fact, quite a few songs from their High High album are stubborn earworms.

5. Turn It Up - T.O.P

MORE EARWORM-ERY. Everything else is irrelevant because it's a T.O.P single. He's sporting a spock haircut and looking pimp as, the only other people who can pull that off are the original Spock (i.e. Leonard Nimoy during his spock days), Zachary Quinto, and Key (Shinee). Period.

6. I'm Sorry - Gummy feat. T.O.P.
I find that Gummy has quite a unique voice in the korean idol industry of cutesey poppy hyper feminized vocals. And, well, T.O.P his voice is aurally pleasing, very much so.

7. Good Day - IU
This girl is flawless. Good Day's a far cry from her Marshmallow days, but it's a welcome change. These are the songs you ought to be singing IU, not cutesey pop tunes. She demonstrates her remarkable vocal range during the live performances for this song by actually singing the 3 octave note around the end. Head to youtube and watch one of her comback stages. Hopefully she doesn't over-strain herself and damage her vocal cords. OTL.

K, i actually have a lot more, but i won't spam you guys with too much media for today.

Music Selection Saturdays #2!

Hello people!

Today i unconsciously picked 4 japanese songs, sorry for the lack of variety. Well, to be fair, one of the groups does sing korean songs. hahah.

Despite internet constraints, i decided not to forgo this week's Music Selection Saturdays, so, enjoy~

1. SNSD's Gee (japanese version)

In the beginning i never liked SNSD cause i thought they were just another korean girl group whose popularity was going to die out faster than you can say candle flame. But i cannot remember what changed my mind. hahah. I'm quite fond of their music now, even amidst claims of it being autotuned. It doesn't seem to matter as mong as the songs are catchy. I mean, you could say that Glee songs are autotuned to a certain extent too, but they don't have that many anti-fans do they?

Yeah, so this is the japanese version of one of the korean chart-topping Gee. I like it cause i actually can understand what they're saying without having to read off the lyric translations, also cause it's undeniably cute.

2. AKB48's ポニーテールとシュシュ (Ponytail to Shushu)

A friend introduced me to AKB48 through this song some days ago and now i have 103 of their songs on my ipod touch. This, despite not knowing the divisions or the member names. Well, i can't exactly tell any of them apart yet, so i'll give it awhile. This song isn't bad though, i like the chorus, though not much can be said about the title, it threw me off a little.

3. Kalafina's Sprinter

Kalafina does more than just justice to Yuki Kaijura's compositions, they fit perfectly into the genre. Sprinter is from their album Seventh Heaven, and was the one of the songs i liked from that album, another song would be Natsu no Ringo. Most of their songs have a haunting quality to them and i find it very calming to listen to.

4. Ai Otsuka's  金魚花火 Kingyo Hanabi

This is such a pretty song, one of Ai Otsuka's better ones i think. It was her 5th single, released in 2004. I found it in a compilation album a long time ago, along with Sakuranbo, somehow, even after listening to her other albums, i still like these two songs the most.

And that's it for MSS #2, hope you liked it!

p.s.

Sorry i haven't been updating with outfit posts and stuff, I'll be incredibly busy from now till early November cause it's the end of my first year and i have an entire pile of assignments due in less than a month. Nonetheless, i'll try to update relatively often, so stay tuned~

Oh, and if the cbox doesn't seem to work, cause i enabled the captcha function to prevent bots from posting and it might have screwed up the coding. I'll probably take the cbox off and see if i can fix it, but if you have anything to say, just hit up the comment button below the post titles. It's interesting to read feedback, so feel free to throw me as many comments as you want. ahahah.

Music Selection Saturdays!~ the first edition.

I've decided to start a weekly thing, where i pick a couple of good/earwormy/funny songs every saturday and reccommend them here.

To start off Music Selection Saturdays, i'll be reccing 4 songs this week.

Though, i should probably say beforehand, i don't usually listen to english songs.

1. Lee Seung Gi's 정신이 나갔었나봐 [Losing My Mind]

It's in the OST for 'My Girlfriend is a Gumiho', a pretty good korean drama.

I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH. Despite the lyrics, it's so upbeat and happy. Been spamming it on my ipod touch for an entire week and i'm still not sick of it.

2. Perfume's Dream Fighter

Perfume's main genre would be techno, but for some reasom i actually like their music as compared to, say, mainstream techno/trance music. This is one of my favourites from their album, Triangle. Another good one would be Love the World.

3. Miss A's  Breathe

For a rookie group, Miss A is crazy good. And i mean that in the best way possible. When they first debuted, during live performances, sometimes their voices wavered because theý were dancing at the same time, but now their performances are these solid blocks of amazing.

4. Koda Kumi's Showgirl

The theme of this video was very reminiscent of Moulin Rouge, in terms of costuming and dance. Honestly, it was pretty difficult to pick a favourite video for Koda Kumi cause i like most of her MVs. ahhah. Another video i really liked was Superstar. Though i'm not really that big a fan of Koda Kumi, her sense of style is unparalleled, and i love her nail art.

That concludes the debut edition of music selection saturdays. Hopefully i don't forget that it's supposed to be a weekly thing.
